La Solana2 Picual is an intense, powerful olive oil with a polyphenol content of over 1000 mg/kg . Packaged in a practical 2-liter bag-in-box for maximum protection and freshness.

The small family business Solana2 produces a uniquely high-quality organic extra virgin olive oil in a limited and individually numbered edition.

Solana2, a small family business meets the highest demands

The small olive plantation of Solana2 consists of 1,097 olive trees and is located on a high plateau in Almería, in southeastern Spain. In the middle, between the Sierra Estancia and the Sierra Maria, at an altitude of 1,100 meters above sea level, the 5-hectare olive grove is the only one in the area. This is because the climate on Campo Cisnares is unique and not necessarily olive-friendly. Cold, low-rain winters alternate with hot summer days and sensitively cool summer nights.

La Solana2 Olive oil from 1000 meters high

Through careful and very elaborate care, the olive trees of Solana2 have adapted to the environmental conditions, and the family produces an incomparable extra virgin olive oil. The single-varietal olive oil consists exclusively of the pure juice of Picual olives, which adapt particularly well to extreme climatic conditions. As a result, the emerald green organic olive oil from Solana2 proves to be very stable not only in the kitchen. It also boasts a particularly high richness in healthy polyphenols.

Solana2 stands for Exclusivity and Uniqueness

Due to both the difficult climatic conditions and the limited number of olive trees, the quantity of oil produced by Solana2 is manageable. Depending on the weather, between 3,000 and 5,000 liters are produced annually. The limited edition at Solana2 is provided not only with the bottling date but also with the processing date, and in addition, each bottle receives an individual number. Therefore, the organic extra virgin olive oil is suitable both as an exclusive treat for your own kitchen and as a loving, high-quality gift.

Due to climatic conditions, the top oil from Solana2 not only boasts unusual and unique aromas but also has a lot to offer for health. In addition to the excellent composition of fatty acids and the high content of polyphenols, the top oil scores with many natural antioxidants and important tocopherols. Even a small amount is sufficient to cover the recommended daily requirement of antioxidants.

La Solana2 Olive oil

Solana2 values Environment and Health

Because Solana2 exclusively practices organic olive cultivation, you can be sure that the organic extra virgin olive oil is free from any chemical or synthetic harmful substances. At the same time, organic farming not only benefits the health of the olive oil consumer, but future generations also benefit from environmentally friendly olive cultivation. The Sánchez Arán family, behind Solana2, has recognized that we can only live healthily if our environment is also healthy.

To add both nutrients and moisture to the soil, the family business plants additional green plants from the diverse plant family of legumes between the olive trees. This prevents the soil from drying out and, at the same time, the legumes release nitrogen into the soil, thus naturally fertilizing the olive trees. Solana2 places the highest value on the natural use of resources without the use of synthetic, chemical, or even genetically modified products. It contributes to an organic diet in a sustainable way with respect for the environment.

Everything under Family Supervision: from Harvest to Shipping

Because Solana2 is a small family business, every step, from olive cultivation to harvesting, bottling, and shipping the finished olive oil, remains manageable:

  • Due to climatic conditions, the olive trees of Solana2 bloom later than trees in other olive-growing regions. As a result, the fruits also ripen later.
  • Therefore, the picking of ripening olives usually takes place from mid-October to early November.
  • During harvesting, no olives are picked from the ground, ensuring that only whole fruits proceed to processing.
  • The olives are picked by hand.
  • Because harvesting the trees never takes longer than 20 hours and the distance from the olive grove to the oil mill is short, the fruits do not need to be stored for a long time. This prevents oxidation of the olives.
  • Although the organic farm Solana2 does not own its own oil mill, it does not compromise on its organic standards when grinding the fruits either. Therefore, it transports the olives to the oil mill of an olive finca with an organic tradition.
  • To preserve all the aromas and healthy ingredients of the fruits, the olives are cold-pressed in a two-phase process at a temperature always below 22 degrees.
  • The naturally cloudy, pure olive juice is then poured through a cellulose filter in their own facilities and stored as purified olive oil in large stainless steel tanks.
  • To ensure a constant temperature, the tanks are located in a cellar with 70-centimeter-thick clay walls and another 50-centimeter-thick wall of ceramic bricks.

Solana2, a Family Project Making Waves Worldwide

Even though the family business's quantity of olive oil doesn't match most world-renowned oils, its quality can not only keep up but often surpass many extra virgin olive oils. Therefore, despite its small production – a minimum production is required for many olive oil competitions – the unique organic olive oil boasts more than 30 international awards. And its certificates are also impressive.

  • Solana2 bears the SIQEV seal of the QvExtra association, guaranteeing that it is an extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality.
  • Solana2's products have also been certified with the V-Label. The V-Label, an internationally protected trademark, designates vegetarian and vegan foods.
  • And as an organic farm, Solana2 holds the CAAE certificate, the leading certification body for organic production in the agricultural and food sectors.

To name some prices and medals, the excellent extra virgin olive oil of the Sánchez Arán family has already been honored with the following awards:

  • Gold Medal Terraolivo, Israel
  • Gold Medal Olivinus Mendoza, Argentina
  • Silver Medal Olivejapan, Japan
  • Listed in Flos Olei among the 500 best olive oils in the world
