La Chinata is part of NETASA (Norte Extremeña de Transformados Agrícolas, S.A.), a family-owned company founded in 1975 in Malpartida de Plasencia, Spain. From the very beginning, the brand has been built on a deep commitment to quality, meticulous craftsmanship and a passion for Spanish culinary tradition. Over the decades, La Chinata has become one of the most respected names in smoked paprika, a staple of Spanish cuisine and a cherished ingredient in gourmet kitchens around the world.
The company remains firmly rooted in its family origins, with multiple generations of the Oliva family involved in production, quality control, and international expansion. This continuity helps preserve traditional methods while allowing for careful innovation that does not compromise authenticity. La Chinata’s products are now exported to over 60 countries and can be found in renowned supermarkets, specialty shops and professional restaurant pantries from the United Kingdom and the United States to Canada, France and Australia.
Central to La Chinata’s prestige is its dedication to strict quality standards. The company holds IFS FOOD certification — an internationally recognized food safety and quality benchmark — and is a long-standing member of the Protected Designation of Origin (“Pimentón de La Vera”) group, an official guarantee of authenticity and regional origin.

La Chinata Smoked Paprika comes from red peppers grown in the La Vera region of Extremadura, Spain, a landscape famous for ideal climate and soil conditions for paprika production. The smoky flavor that defines La Chinata paprika is achieved through a traditional process in which ripe peppers are slowly dried over oak and holm oak wood smoke for roughly 10–15 days — a method known locally as “al humo.” This careful drying not only infuses the paprika with its characteristic aroma but also stabilizes its vibrant red color and intense flavor.
La Chinata paprika is offered in the classic three main varieties — sweet, bittersweet and hot — to suit a wide range of culinary uses. Beyond the iconic smoked paprika powder, the brand has expanded into a broad spectrum of gourmet seasonings, including smoked pepper flakes, grinders, dried smoked peppers, sauces, and beautifully packaged gift sets. Many of these products highlight the smoky essence in modern twists on traditional condiments, perfect for seasoning paellas, stews, meats, vegetables and more.
Today, La Chinata’s smoked paprika is not only a symbol of Spanish heritage but also a versatile ingredient prized by chefs and home cooks alike. Its rich, deep smoky notes can elevate everything from classic Spanish dishes to contemporary international cuisine, reflecting both a respect for tradition and a commitment to exceptional taste.
