Oro del Desierto is a Premium Quality Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, made with early harvest olives from the Tabernas Desert, Almería. This EVOO, available in a can, is a true treasure of flavor and sustainability, reflecting the unique character of its desert origin and a commitment to the environment.
Oro del Desierto offers you top-class organic olive oil. Whether it's a single-varietal oil or a skillfully composed coupage, the extra virgin organic olive oil is recognized worldwide.
Oro del Desierto, a well-organized family business with an organic tradition
Oro del Desierto is located in the southeast of Andalusia in the Spanish province of Almería. The estate consists of 25,000 olive trees and has been dedicated to organic olive cultivation since 1996. With a lot of heart and passion, a unique, high-quality extra virgin organic olive oil is created under the direction of Rafael Alonso-Aguilera.

For seven generations, the Alonso family has been involved in the cultivation of olives and can therefore draw not only on a long tradition but also on a wealth of experience. At the same time, Oro del Desierto is technically equipped with the best machines to meet all the health, taste, and olfactory requirements of a top-quality olive oil.
Why the organic olive oil from Oro del Desierto tastes so excellent
Oro del Desierto produces first-class extra virgin organic olive oil that is very popular with connoisseurs and amateurs alike. The Alonso family owes this, on the one hand, to the knowledge of the care and cultivation of olives, which has been passed down and improved for generations.
On the other hand, the location of the olive grove also plays a major role, because aromatic olives need a lot of sunlight. Tabernas, adjacent to the desert of the same name, is blessed with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and thus has optimal conditions for successful olive cultivation.
Last but not least, it is also the love of nature and especially the passion for the olive tree and its fruits that create a top-class extra virgin organic olive oil at Oro del Desierto. For the Alonso family, quality is not a fad, but the philosophy on which their work is based. It is not the price that can be obtained for the olive oil that counts, but the high-quality end result.
Oro del Desierto - organically grown olives processed with the latest technology
At Oro del Desierto, ecology is not an empty phrase, but is consistently implemented in its three main objectives. Because in organic farming it means:
- Respect for the environment
- Preservation of the fertility of the soil
- Obtaining food of the highest quality
In order to both appreciate nature and preserve the fertility of the soil, Oro del Desierto refrains from using chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Ditches are dug for irrigation and a natural cover for the soil is provided. In order to retain moisture on the one hand and fertilize the olive tree on the other, the waste from pruning is placed between the plants. To protect the tree and its valuable fruits, the olive harvest is also done by hand.

Once the olives are picked, they are loosely tipped into crates and driven directly to the oil mill. At a temperature not exceeding 27ᵒCelsius, the high-quality olive oil can be gently pressed from the fruits with the modern machines of Oro del Desierto. After decanting and mechanical centrifuging, the finished and tasted extra virgin organic olive oil awaits its sale in air-conditioned stainless steel tanks.
Of course, the high technology of the Oro del Desierto oil mill is operated exclusively with solar energy. And the waste produced during olive pressing can also be reused:
- The pits of the olives are used for combustion in the oil mill.
- After drying, part of the pulp serves as feed for goats and sheep.
- After composting, the remaining pulp becomes a valuable natural fertilizer, which in turn benefits the olive trees.
Extra virgin organic olive oil from Oro del Desierto – health-promoting and delicious

The fact that extra virgin olive oil has health-promoting effects has been known not just since the invention of the Mediterranean diet. Rich in antioxidants contained in the natural phenols of a high-quality oil, it fights inflammation and free radicals in the body. At the same time, when consumed regularly, extra virgin olive oil contributes to stabilizing blood sugar levels.
Scientifically proven and confirmed by the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA), 20 grams of high-quality extra virgin olive oil with a hydroxytyrosol content (= a natural phenolic acid) of more than five milligrams is sufficient to cover the daily requirement for health promotion through olive oil. Because the extra virgin organic olive oil from Oro del Desierto is checked anew after each harvest and has been proven to exceed this value, it provides you with a beneficial effect when consumed regularly in the above-mentioned amount.
