An olive grove in the heart of Castile

The olive trees of Pago de Valdecuevas thrive at around 850 meters above sea level in the unique microclimate of Valladolid, Castilla y León, where continental temperature swings and poor, stony soils concentrate the fruit’s flavors. The estate spans more than 140-150 hectares of olive groves, producing predominantly single-varietal Arbequina olive oils, known for their elegant fruitiness, balanced structure and aromatic intensity. In addition to Arbequina, small amounts of Picual and Manzanilla Cacereña are also cultivated to support biodiversity and cross-pollination.

Pago de Valdecuevas was founded in 2008 when the first olive trees were planted, and in 2011 the family built its own modern almazara in Medina de Rioseco, the first in the province of Valladolid, marking a milestone for quality olive oil production in a region not traditionally known for its olive culture.

Technology & tradition in perfect harmony

Pago de Valdecuevas blends the latest extraction technology with deep respect for tradition. Early harvests ensure olives are picked at their peak, either by hand or using gentle vibration systems to prevent damage. Within hours, the fruit reaches the on-site mill, where it is cold-pressed at temperatures below 20 °C to preserve freshness, aromas and nutritional qualities. Modern equipment facilitates strict control over every step of the process, from cleaning and weighing to milling and storage in stainless steel tanks under inert atmospheres. The facility holds internationally recognized quality certifications including ISO 9001:2015 and IFS standards.

Premium olive oil with international renown

Valdecuevas olive oils have achieved numerous national and international awards, including recognition in prestigious competitions. Early campaigns were honored with the Mario Solinas Prize — often referred to as the “Oscar of olive oils” — and in 2021 Valdecuevas was awarded Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil of Spain in the “Ripe Fruitiness” category by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture.

The oils are celebrated for their clear varietal aromas, high stability and a rounded, harmonious mouthfeel, making them favorites both in the restaurant industry and among discerning consumers. Tasting notes often include fresh grass, green apple, almond and subtle vegetal nuances, with balanced bitterness and spicy finish typical of high-quality Arbequina oils. :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}
