Feinschmeker Olio Award
Feinschmecker Olio Award is an esteemed annual competition dedicated to extra virgin olive oil. Each year, hundreds of oils are blind-tasted by an expert jury organised by the German magazine Der Feinschmecker.
A benchmark in olive oil excellence
Since 2003, the Feinschmecker Olio Award has conducted multi-day tastings of hundreds of extra virgin olive oils submitted from around the world. In 2025 the jury tasted around 300 oils from six countries in blind tests.
The purpose of the competition is to identify and honour oils of outstanding sensory quality – from “lightly fruity” to “intensely fruity” categories – and thereby provide a reliable benchmark for producers, retailers and consumers.

Value for producers, trade & consumers
For olive oil producers, receiving a Feinschmecker Olio Award means international recognition; for retailers and importers, it is a trusted seal of excellence; and for consumers it is a clear signal of premium quality and authenticity.
The award and related publications highlight trends in olive oil production, sustainable practices and premium segmentation, helping transform the oil marketplace.
